· Aim: Know the benefits that come with exercise in pregnancy.
· Method: To carry out this investigation, there was the pregnancy of 200 women from the commune of San Miguel, that prior to this stage in physical exercise. 100 of them during pregnancy continued to exercise and other physical activity ceased.
All these women were supported and supervised by a medical team, those who were oriented along the needs of each one of them.
Then these women, both which continue to exercise as those without, underwent a medical and psychological monitoring, until the birth.
· Results : The 98.5% of women who continued with their exercise, obtained this benefit for themselves and their child. Of this, 53% improved cardiovascular fitness and blood pressure. 75% favour the correct posture and avoid excessive weight gain. 88% decreased digestive discomfort and constipation. 98.5% increased psychological well-being by reducing anxiety, depression and insomnia. More importantly, 95% shortened the postpartum hospitalization and reduces the number of caesarean sections. The remaining 1% ceased exercise because they did not continue participating in the investigation and 0.5% had back problems.
Women who discontinued their physical activity by pregnancy, of which 25% had birth by caesarean, 5% had gestational diabetes and 23% were overweight or obese. The rest, he did a normal pregnancy.
· Conclusions: Exercise, providing benefits for the same pregnancy, childbirth, woman and fetus. It is important that midwives encourage and inform future mothers about the physical exercises.
